"Love means never having to say you're ugly..."Dr. Anton Phibes as portrayed by Vincent Price in Robert Fuest's 1971 classic "The Abominable Dr. Phibes."
The Abominable Dr. Phibes was billed as Vincent Price's 100th feature, and was among his last for A.I.P. At first it seems strange to have an actor who is so well known for his voice in a role where his first words are spoken 32 minutes into the movie, but who else could possibly have played Dr. Phibes? Price is brilliant as the mad organist Doctor set upon revenge, delivering old testament vengeance upon those he holds responsible for his wife's death.
A few interesting pieces of Trivia:
Vincent Price often cracked up during filming, and needed to have his make up reapplied a lot as his laughing wrecked it.
Peter Cushing was considered for the part of Vesalius. His wife's illness at the time prevented him from playing the part.
The Who drummer Keith Moon was a huge fan of this film, and watched it at home on the night he died.
